What it is
Closed to new applicants since October 2022, but it still gets searched for constantly, usually by people assuming it’s still running. While it existed, the government lent up to 20% of a new build’s price (40% in London), interest-free for the first five years, so a buyer only needed a 5% deposit. Nothing has replaced it directly, though the closest live equivalents are the Mortgage Guarantee Scheme and First Homes above.
