Comments on properties

Leave notes on a property for yourself, or discuss it with a linked partner.

House hunting rarely stays in one place. There is the thought that arrives on the drive home from a viewing, the question that surfaces halfway through the listing photos, the text to your partner you never quite send. Every property in The First Move has its own notes thread, so the running commentary on a place sits next to its cost breakdown and its score rather than scattered across texts and emails and a notes app.

Posting a comment

Every property has its own notes thread, and it is there for anything worth remembering, whether that is a thought after a viewing, a question you want to put to the agent, or a reminder about something odd you spotted in the photos.

Shared with your partner

If you have linked a partner account, notes on a shared property are visible to both of you and shown as a back-and-forth thread with each person’s name and photo against what they wrote. It is a straightforward way to talk a property through without switching to another app.

Posting a note also notifies your partner, so they know there is something new to read without having to go looking for it.

If you later unlink, comments you each left on the other’s properties are deleted along with the link, in both directions. Once a property is out of your sight you could never see or remove what you wrote on it, so nothing you said is left behind on a property you can no longer open. Comments on your own properties stay put.

Deleting a comment

You can delete your own comments at any time. There is currently no way to edit a comment after posting, or to delete a comment that your partner posted.

Worth knowing

Deleting is not silent. If you have a linked partner, they get a notification telling them you deleted a comment on that property, so it disappears from the thread but the fact that you removed something does not. Worth bearing in mind before you post something you might think better of.
